FOOTBALL GREATS GATHER TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS
OF THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE NFL

NFL legends Joe Namath, Y.A. Tittle, Lynn Swann, Rod Woodson, Chuck Bednarik, and Gene Washington gathered on Tuesday, September 21 to celebrate some of the best photography in NFL history. More than 100 photographs (from 1936-1999) are captured in a new book released this week titled Best Shots: The Greatest NFL Photography of the Century.

The event at Park Avenue Country Club in Manhattan piqued the players memories, as well as the photographers who came to the event, many of whom were meeting their subjects for the first time. The captivating images stirred up powerful feelings for players and photographers alike.

"You look at a picture, and it recalls a memory that generates a similar feeling now. Or maybe it’s a different feeling, but it’s enough to get your blood flowing," remembers Joe Namath. Whether it was Lynn Swann’s gravity-defying touchdown reception or Y.A. Tittle’s collapsed look of defeat, the photography of Best Shots recalled for the players all of the euphoria and anguish that accompanies America’s favorite sport.
