NFL UNDER THE HELMET FEATURES VICE PRESIDENT AL GORE, EDDIE GEORGE AND LIVE PERFORMANCE BY TECHNO-METAL BAND STATIC-X

The second episode of the NFL’s new youth program "NFL Under the Helmet" will air on FOX-TV, on Saturday, September 18 at 12 noon ET (viewers should check their local listings). The 30-minute show is hosted by Fox Sports personality Ron Pitts and new co-host Jill Arrington.

This week, the show will feature a recap of the league’s Play Football Day activities that included Vice President Al Gore and five NFL players visiting a school in Washington, DC. Darrell Green, Jamal Anderson, Steve McNair, Jason Sehorn and Jonathon Ogden joined the Vice President to talk about the many youth programs developed by the league and offered at schools and parks across the country.

Also in this week’s episode will be a live performance of the song "Push It" by techno-metal band Static-X. The LA-based band will perform the song as a tribute to the Vikings ebullient defensive lineman John Randle.

Twelve-year old Chris Smikes of Nashville will try his hand as an on-air sports reporter when he interviews Titans running back Eddie George.

Rounding out the show will be features on Jake Plummer’s early football experience and a feature where rookie quarterbacks Tim Couch and Donovan McNabb discuss the work and preparation needed to learn an NFL playbook.

NFL Under the Helmet is an FCC-friendly show geared to young fans ages 12-16 and will run weekly on FOX through March. The show will run 52-weeks a year beginning in September 2000.
