NFL INTERNET NETWORK TRAFFIC
UP 24 PERCENT IN DECEMBER

More Than 9.5 Million Unique Users;
More Than Other Sports Leagues Combined

A record number of teams in playoff contention entering Week 17 with exciting games going down to the wire made December a month to remember for NFL fans.  Looking for more information about their favorite teams, players, and the playoff races, more than nine and a half million unique users logged on to the NFL Internet Network in December, the highest total ever for the league’s final regular-season month.

In December, 9.67 million unique users visited the NFL Internet Network – an increase of 24 percent from December 2001 (7.79 million unique users), according to Nielsen// NetRatings.  The December traffic on the NFL Internet Network more than doubled the next closest sports league website (see chart below) and is greater than the next three sports leagues combined.

In addition, the NFL Internet Network - made up of all official NFL websites, including NFL.com and the websites of the 32 clubs - was the second most-visited sports website for the month (ESPN.com).
