NFL PROVIDES $100,000
in Pro Bowl Grants
TO HAWAIIAN NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
The NFL’s All-Star Game at Aloha Stadium
lasts several hours, but the Pro Bowl’s legacy to the state of Hawaii
continues to grow year-round. More than 25
Hawaiian non-profit
organizations will benefit from $100,000 as part of the NFL Charities Pro
Bowl Grant Program, the NFL announced today.
NFL
Charities has provided grants the past eight years to Hawaiian-based
groups. The organizations undergo a rigorous application process and must
be focused on youth programming, education, and physical fitness.
Seven non-profit organizations received $10,000 grants, while three received
$5,000 and 14, $1,000. The $10,000 recipients are: Blueprint for Change;
Hawaii Centers for Independent Living; Hawaii Foodbank; Hawaii Literacy,
Inc.; Hawaii High School Athletic Association; Special Olympics Hawaii and
YWCA/Camp Start-Up. The $5,000 winners are: Community Assistance Center;
Hawaii’s American Cancer Society and Hawaii Literacy, Inc.
The
$1,000 winners are: Assests School; Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Honolulu,
Inc.; Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii; Child and Family Service; Friends of the
Future; Hale Kipa, Inc.; Hina Mauka; Hospice Hawaii; Junior Achievement;
Nuuanu YMCA; Ronald McDonald House Charities; Waikiki Health Center;
Windward YMCA and YMCA Camp Erdman.
NFL Charities, created in
1973, is a non-profit organization created by the member clubs of the
National Football League to enable the clubs to collectively make grants to
charitable and worthwhile causes on the national level. Since its inception,
NFL Charities has made more than $45 million in grant commitments to more
than 250 organizations.
