New York, August 22,
2001 – The fourth season of “NFL
Under The Helmet” will kick off this Saturday, August 24 at 12:00 p.m.
(check local listings) on FOX-TV. The premiere episode of the 2002 season
will cover a range of topics from NFL training camps to a recap of last
season’s Super Bowl XXXVI.
San Francisco 49ers
tackle DERRICK DEESE,
an 11-year NFL veteran,
knows what it’s like to go
through an NFL training camp. This year though, he will be followed by an
NFL Films camera crew and lead viewers through a typical day at camp,
including a behind-the-scenes tour of the 49ers’ dorms. Deese will also
be wired during practice, enabling fans to listen in on the hard hitting
action.
A “Sounds of Training
Camp” segment will feature four NFL head coaches, JON GRUDEN of the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, MARTY MORNHINWEG of the Detroit Lions,
MARTY SCHOTTENHEIMER of the San Diego Chargers and STEVE SPURRIER
of the Washington Redskins.
One of Spurrier’s
players, Redskins linebacker LA VAR ARRINGTON, will also be
featured during the episode. Soccer star and “Under The Helmet” reporter
BRANDI CHASTAIN teaches Arrington how to hula hoop in Hawaii, where
Arrington played in last season’s AFC-NFC Pro Bowl.
Other features include
“Sounds of the Pro Bowl” and a Super Bowl XXXVI recap, highlighting the
New England Patriots’ first world championship.
The KORN song
"Here To Stay" will accompany a segment highlighting the best tackles from
the 2001 season.
"NFL Under the Helmet"
airs every Saturday at noon ET on FOX-TV (check local listings). The show
is hosted by RON PITTS and REBECCA GRANT. "Under the
Helmet," the NFL’s premiere magazine show, produced by NFL Films, features
the best of the NFL and the world of contemporary music.
