HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACHES MAY NOW APPLYFOR HIGH SCHOOL & YOUTH FOOTBALL SUMMIT AT NFLHS.COM
Second-Annual NFL-Hosted Football Summit Requires Coaches’ Self-Nominations
High school football head coaches may now apply at NFLHS.com to participate in the NFL’s High School & Youth Football Summit slated for 2002 Hall of Fame Weekend in the Canton, Ohio area (July 31-Aug. 3). Online applications must be sent by April 12. Selected coaches will take part in three days of clinics, educational seminars and roundtable discussions led by some of the NFL's most respected football authorities. Last year’s summit included insight from Pro Football Hall of Famers BOB GRIESE (Class of 1990) and DON SHULA (’97). In addition, summit participants are invited to attend the 2002 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 3. Participating coaches will be selected by the content of their essays submitted to NFLHS.com. Coaches from all 50 states as well as from outside of the United States will be participating. Selected coaches will be notified by mail after June 15. The NFL will pay for participants’ airfare and accommodations. Essay submissions on NFLHS.com should outline coaching career, commitment to youth, and philosophies on coaching high school football. Applications should give a brief review of team records and coaching career, highlighting championships and/or awards received, but the narrative of the essay is more important than a won-loss record. Coaches will not be selected for the summit based on winning percentages but on their commitment to helping create better citizens and football players. In its third year, NFLHS.com reports stories on NFL players and coaches related to high school football. NFLHS.com is part of the NFL Internet Network, comprising of NFL.com, team and other sites. The NFL Internet Network is the world’s most popular sports league online entity. # # # |
