Statement from Commissioner Tagliabue on the death of Ed McCaskey:

For decades, Ed and Virginia McCaskey were a special team that made the Bears exemplary partners with every other member of the League.  In quiet and private ways, the Chairman often gave me invaluable advice and support on many League matters.  Whether at a Bears' game, at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii or on the telephone around holidays, Chan and I always found special reward and joy in visiting with Big Ed.  He is irreplaceable, but leaves a legacy that future generations will cherish.  Our hearts are heavy and we offer our deep sympathy to Virginia and the entire McCaskey family.
