65 FORMER & CURRENT NFL PLAYERS
REPORT ON SUPER BOWL XXXIX IN JACKSONVILLE

-- Former sports reporter ANDY REID a key figure in the game --

All of them have played the game.  Many have played in the game – Super Bowl.  And they are in Jacksonville, Florida this week to impart their insiders' knowledge and analysis of Super Bowl XXXIX between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday.

Sixty-five former and current NFL players – 44 of whom have played in Super Bowls – are previewing the game for domestic and international viewers.  Eight active players – MORTEN ANDERSEN, KYLE BRADY, JOHN LYNCH, TOM NÜTTEN, JESSE PALMER, SIMEON RICE, EPHRAIM SALAAM and MICHAEL STRAHAN – and one former NFL head coach – JIM MORA, SR. -- are reporting on the game.

One of the central figures in the game – Eagles head coach ANDY REID – duplicated the role of the 64 players years ago as a college undergraduate.

As a player at BYU, Reid also was a columnist for the Provo Daily Herald

“I had my own little column,” says Reid, who wanted to be a writer for Sports Illustrated.  “I loved JIM MURRAY (the Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist of the Los Angeles Times).  I wrote one of these cutesy deals, trying to write like Jim.  The editors took it easy on me.

“I enjoyed writing.  I still do.  I keep a journal to this day.  It’s a great release.”
