BLEDSOE, DONAHOE AND MULARKEY ON HAND FOR OPENING OF BUFFALO BILLS YOUTH FOOTBALL FIELD

Bills become 1st NFL franchise to open youth football facility at team headquarters

Buffalo Bills President/GM TOM DONAHOE, Head Coach MIKE MULARKEY, quarterback DREW BLEDSOE and NFL Senior Director of Youth Football CEDRIC JONES will be among the guests at the unveiling of the Buffalo Bills Youth Football Field on Friday, November 12 in Orchard Park, NY. Representatives from the Western New York Youth Tackle Football Federation and other Bills players will take part in the ceremony that will begin at 2:30 PM ET.

The Buffalo Bills are the first NFL franchise to open a facility dedicated for youth football on the same grounds as the team headquarters, pioneering an initiative first presented by NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue at the NFL Owners Meeting in March 2004.

"The twin pillars of the NFL are football and community," said Tagliabue. "No team better exemplifies those traditions than the Buffalo Bills. Ralph Wilson and the Bills organization deserve tremendous credit for taking this commitment to the next level with the creation of their new youth football field."

The manicured, regulation-size grass football field is located behind Ralph Wilson Stadium in a space formally occupied by the Bills’ outdoor practice field. A full-size scoreboard is featured above the North end zone and temporary bleachers have been erected to accommodate fans.

"We are very dedicated as an organization to develop a first class youth football field," says Donahoe. "The Buffalo Bills are totally behind the promotion of our youth learning and enjoying the great game of football."

The field will be used by teams in the Western New York Youth Tackle Football Federation, which consists of approximately 300 youth football teams from as far north as Niagara Falls, NY stretching west through Erie County into Pennsylvania.

Throughout the year, the Bills will use the facility for youth football-related events such as NFL High School and Junior Player Development programs, NFL Flag games and Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick competitions.

On Saturday, November 13, the Bills will host four championship games for the OATKA Southern Tier Junior Football League on the newly developed Buffalo Bills Youth Football Field.
