NFL NAMES ERIC GRUBMAN EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE
AND STRATEGIC TRANSACTIONS

Former Goldman, Sachs & Company partner ERIC GRUBMAN will join the NFL this week as executive vice president of finance and strategic transactions, Commissioner PAUL TAGLIABUE announced today.

Grubman is a former partner and managing director of New York-based Goldman Sachs, where he worked for 14 years.  He is also former co-president of Constellation Energy Group, a Fortune 500 company located in Baltimore.

Grubman joined Goldman Sachs in 1987 following his graduation from the Harvard Business School.  His responsibilities at Goldman Sachs included managing the firm’s professional sports activities.  Working with the NFL, he played a major role in the sale of the Cleveland Browns expansion franchise in 1998.  He also was involved in the sale of the New England Patriots in 1994 and New York Jets in 2000 and served as an advisor to the NFL on several media initiatives.

Grubman left Goldman Sachs in 2000 to become co-president of Constellation Energy Group, a holding company for Baltimore Gas & Electric and other energy businesses, including Constellation Power Source.

Grubman, 46, will be responsible for in-depth financial analysis on major initiatives and for evaluating new business opportunities.  He will focus on evaluating and structuring the core financial elements of key business transactions and the ongoing needs of league committees for in-depth financial analysis.

Grubman graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1980.  He served five years as a U.S. Navy officer, including stints with the Naval Nuclear Power Program and on-board the USS Boston submarine.  Following active duty, Grubman earned an MBA at the Harvard Business School in 1987.

Grubman and his family will re-locate to New York from their current residence in Owings Mills, Maryland.
