Selling more than 40 million albums and singles worldwide since bursting onto the music scene in 1997, Destiny's Child will perform a medley of their hits to lead off the special. The pregame show will salute the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots and feature other musical performances from Gillette Stadium and Jacksonville, Florida, site of Super Bowl XXXIX.

"NFL Opening Kickoff" will air from 8-9:00 PM (ET) on ABC and lead into the season opener between the Patriots and Indianapolis Colts at Gillette Stadium - a rematch of last season's AFC Championship Game (ABC, 9:00 PM ET).  The show will air following the game in the Rocky Mountain and West Coast time zones.

The group members -- Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland (who recently got engaged to Dallas Cowboys' star Roy Williams) and Michelle Williams - were extremely busy during the hiatus.  All three artists released solo albums and also hit the big screen and stage.  Beyoncé starred in "Austin Powers in Goldmember" and "The Fighting Temptations," while Rowland was featured in "Freddy vs. Jason" and "The Seat Filler."  Williams, meanwhile, tackled Broadway, starring in Disney's "Aida."

"We are excited to be part of "NFL Opening Kickoff," the group says.  "This is part of American fun we wouldn't want to miss.  We want to wish both the Patriots and Colts good luck."

In addition to the Destiny's Child performance, "NFL Opening Kickoff" will feature special tributes to the 2003 Super Bowl champions, take viewers into both teams' locker rooms and include performances from Gillette Stadium by MARY J. BLIGE, ELTON JOHN, TOBY KEITH and LENNY KRAVITZ. JESSICA SIMPSON will perform from Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville, where the next Super Bowl champion will be crowned in Feb. 2005.
