For his commitment and dedication to his community, Denver Broncos free safety JOHN LYNCH has been named September’s NFL "Extra Effort" Award winner. Lynch, who had mainstay in the Tampa area where he played for eleven years for the Buccaneers, continued his work in the community in Denver.

The NFL "Extra Effort" Award is presented monthly to a player who has made a significant contribution to his community, either during that particular month or on a continuing basis.  Clubs nominate players and an NFL selection panel chooses the winner.

NFL Charities will donate $1,000 on Lynch’s behalf to his charity of choice.

In September, through both the John Lynch Foundation and the Denver Broncos, Lynch launched "Lynch’s Leaders," a program designed to encourage and develop young leaders. The program invites a variety of Denver’s leaders in business, education, politics, and the community, including Denver Head Coach Mike Shanahan, to speak to junior and senior high school youth at each of the six Boys and Girls Clubs in Metro Denver.

Lynch’s dedication to this program has been instrumental in its initial success and has enabled the Broncos to participate in a much-needed program for the youth in the Denver community.

John and his wife Linda formed the John Lynch Foundation in August 2000 to provide encouragement and positive alternatives for young people. The Lynches are determined to reach students and instill in them the drive to become effective community leaders.
