PARTICIPATE IN Partnership and Promotions Highlight Cayman Islands Before they head to training camp, eight stellar NFL players will hit the beautiful beaches of the Cayman Islands as part of a first-of-its-kind partnership between a sports league and a Caribbean island, the NFL and the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism announced today. The NFL Cayman Challenge, which will include fun competitions in exciting and exotic locations on Grand Cayman, will air on NFL Network 8 p.m. (ET/PT) July 14 with additional airings throughout the month. The event will be produced by NFL Films in conjunction with CHOWDER, INC, and filmed May 20-24. The one-hour special, which grew out of discussions between the NFL and CHOWDER, the Cayman Islands’ creative agency, also marks the destination’s latest foray into the burgeoning world of branded content. The Cayman Islands will receive tremendous exposure during the Challenge. The campaign will be supported by a promotional sweepstakes that will include a grand prize winner and guest receiving a package to attend one of the NFL’s opening weekend games followed by a trip to Grand Cayman. The Challenge will divide current NFL players into two teams which will compete in a variety of events. The participating players are: Minnesota Vikings quarterback DAUNTE CULPEPPER; Miami Dolphins quarterback AJ FEELEY; Atlanta Falcons wide receiver BRIAN FINNERAN; Green Bay Packers tight end BUBBA FRANKS; Tennessee Titans running back EDDIE GEORGE; Baltimore Ravens defensive back ED REED, Dallas Cowboys defensive end MARCELLUS WILEY and Dallas Cowboys defensive back ROY WILLIAMS. The NFL stars will be pitted in events including: a kayak race; a yacht race; a beach treasure dig; a closest-to-the-pin contest at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman’s Jack Nicklaus-designed Britannia Golf Club; a snorkeling treasure hunt and a deep-sea fishing competition. “The Cayman Islands is very excited to be working with the NFL in a joint venture to create the first ever ‘NFL Cayman Challenge’, “ said Pilar Bush, Acting Director of Tourism for the Cayman Islands. “We are pleased that such an esteemed organization as the NFL chose the Cayman Islands as the centerpiece for their brand new show. This event will be filmed on our magnificent beaches and sea, and will showcase the many water sports and activities available on-island.
