AFC PLAYOFF INFORMATION

ATTENTION: SPORTS EDITORS, SPORTS DIRECTORS & PHOTO EDITORS

The NFL playoffs begin with Wild Card Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, January 8-9.  The Divisional Playoffs are on Saturday and Sunday, January 15-16.  There will be two Saturday games and two Sunday games on each of the first two playoff weekends.  The AFC Championship Game is on Sunday, January 23.

REQUESTS FOR MEDIA CREDENTIALS for the Wild Card and Divisional Playoff games should be directed to the host club director of public relations.  The following procedures for press credentials for all postseason games, except Super Bowl, are in effect:

  • CREDENTIAL REQUESTS: Deadline for all credential requests for Wild Card and Divisional games will be set by the home PR director.  The deadline for the AFC Championship Game is Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 3:00 PM ET.
  • CONFIRMATION: Credential requests may be confirmed by calling the AFC Championship Game headquarters after 2:00 PM (game-site time) Thursday prior to the game.
  • WILL CALL: Credentials will not be mailed.  Teams will set up a separate Press Will Call on game day.

REQUESTS FOR MEDIA CREDENTIALS FOR AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:  Media from the two participating teams in the AFC Championship Game should submit their requests to that club’s public relations director, who will compile a list of all local media and submit it to the NFL office.  All other credential applications for the AFC Championship Game should be made electronically on nflmedia.com.

To apply, click the “Event Credentialing” icon at nflmedia.com to link to the online registration form.  A maximum of one registration form per organization should be filled out for the AFC Championship Game.  The deadline to apply is Tuesday, January 11.  If you have questions, please call Steve Alic (212/450-2066).

NO CREDENTIALS WILL BE MAILED.  Credentials will be issued at AFC Championship Game headquarters beginning at 12:00 PM (game-site time), Friday, January 21.  Each media representative must present government-issued photo identification (passport, driver’s license, etc.) at credential pickupThose credentials not picked up at media headquarters will be available at Press Will Call the day of the game and will require presentation of government-issued photo identification.  Assignments of credentials will be made on an NFL city priority basis.

Following are potential AFC Championship Game headquarters.  When making reservations, please contact the AFC Championship headquarters hotel no sooner than Monday, January 17 to reserve your room(s).  Ask for the reservation desk by indicating the code “AFC Media” and the organization you represent.  This will ensure the NFL room rate.
