CONTACT: Pete Abitante (212/450-2065) NEW YORK JETS TO HOST “JETS EN ESPAÑOL” More and more, NFL clubs are reaching out to Hispanics in their language. Last year, “NFL Workshops En Español” were created to educate Hispanics on the fundamentals of football in a fun and comfortable environment. The workshops give Spanish-speaking fans an opportunity to learn about life in the NFL, the history of football, strategy, equipment and receive helpful hints on watching a game. The workshops take place at the local team headquarters. This Friday, December 19, from 5:30 -10:00 PM, the New York Jets will host their first annual “JETS EN ESPAÑOL” at The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J., their home stadium. Hispanic fans of the team will get a behind-the-scenes look at football. The event will offer unique access to the Jets, as well as a tour of the stadium, and is presented through the combined efforts of the Jets, ESPN Deportes and the National Football League. Former New York Jet and NFL great RAUL ALLEGRE, a member of two Super Bowl championship teams, will emcee Jets en Español along with former Jets stars RANDY BEVERLY, TODD BERGER, DAVE HERMAN and KEN SCHROY. Together, they will provide a glimpse inside the world of professional football and offer firsthand insight on the Jets. The event will be conducted in English with Spanish translations available.
