LLOYD FINED $15,000
Greg Lloyd of the Pittsburgh Steelers has been fined $15,000 for his conduct in connection with a flagrantly unnecessary hit against Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Keenan McCardell in a game on October 26, the NFL announced today.
Concerning the alleged phone call to Lloyd that has been linked to the hit, Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said if a player faces a difficult situation off-the-field, the proper response is to seek assistance from his head coach, his club, NFL Security, or others in the NFL office not to exact physical retribution on opponents.
The NFL has found no evidence of such a call from Keenan McCardell and will not pursue the matter further.
