TWO-POINT CONVERSION ATTEMPTS UP

 

Two-point conversion attempts are up by 38 percent this season compared to last year at this time.

There have been 40 two-point attempts through six weeks of the season, compared to 29 at this point in 1996.

Teams have converted their attempts at the same rate as last year through Week 6 -- 48 percent (1997: 19 of 40; 1996: 14 of 29).

Two-point passing attempts have increased by 63 percent over last year. This season, there have been 31 such attempts (14 successful for a 45 percent success rate). Last year through this point, there were 19 (with eight successful, 42 percent).

Two-point rushing attempts have decreased this year, from 10 last season (successful on six for a 60 percent rate) to nine (made five for a 55 percent rate).
