Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 Awarded to New Orleans

Super Bowl XXXVI, to be played in 2002, was awarded to New Orleans today at an NFL meeting in Kansas City. It marks the ninth time New Orleans has played host to the Super Bowl, most of any city.  The game will be played at the Superdome.

"New Orleans has been an outstanding Super Bowl city." said NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue.

Super Bowl XXXIII will be played in Miami, Florida, on January 31, 1999. Atlanta will host Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000 and Tampa hosts Super Bowl XXXV in 2001.
