1998 ATTENDANCE NOTES
- Final 1998 regular season attendance numbers will be announced
later this week, but here is what we know today heading into tonights regular-season
finale:
The NFL will set an all-time regular season attendance record
in 1998 and top 63,000 (and possibly 64,000) per game for the first time ever.
- Entering Week 17, NFL attendance was averaging 64,125 per
game. Week 17 attendance was strong with sellouts in Baltimore, Chicago, Atlanta, New York
(Jets), Philadelphia, San Francisco, Arizona, Denver, Dallas, and Jacksonville.
- The all-time regular season record of 62,682 was set in 1995.
- Last years regular season attendance was 62,364.
- Total regular season attendance will top 15 million for only
the second time in league history. The first time was 1995 when 15,043,562 tickets were
sold for the 240 regular season games.
