PRO BOWL BALLOTING BEGINS SUNDAY

Balloting for the 1999 AFC-NFC Pro Bowl by fans begins Sunday in NFL stadiums and by computer through NFL.com, the NFL announced today. Fans at Qualcomm Stadium will be the first to vote for this year’s Pro Bowl teams when the Philadelphia Eagles visit the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

Fans can vote on NFL.com, the NFL’s official web site which attracts 250,000 fans per day and nearly 400,000 individual users on Sunday game days.

In addition to in-stadium balloting and voting through NFL.com, fans can vote on ballots in Topps NFL Stars football cards, and beginning in November in balloting at 700 Champs Sporting Goods Stores nationwide and in Canada. Ballots also will be contained in "First & Goal," the NFL Sunday Ticket magazine. Ballots sponsored by DirecTV will also be distributed at various NFL events. Fan voters are automatically entered in a Pro Bowl Sweepstakes that awards a trip for two to the game.

The consensus ballots of NFL fans, coaches and players each count one-third towards determining the 43-player squads that will represent the American and National conferences in the game that will be played at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday, February 7. The Pro Bowl will be televised live by ABC-TV at 6:00 PM ET.

The NFL is the only professional sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players in determining its all-star teams. The NFL became the first league to offer voting online in 1994.

NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on December 14-15. The fan vote will serve as a tiebreaker in case of deadlocks. Several NFL stadiums will conduct balloting on more than one day. The in-stadium schedule:
