STATEMENT BY AN NFL SPOKESPERSON:
Earlier this week Commissioner Tagliabue contacted Bill Parcells. They
discussed Coach Parcells’ telephone call several weeks ago to Drew Bledsoe. The
Commissioner said he accepted that the phone call was insubstantial. Coach Parcells said
he understood the Commissioner’s concerns about phone calls to opposing players
during the season and that there would be no further such calls by the Jets.
