NFL ATTENDANCE UP BY NEARLY 3,000 PER GAME

NFL paid attendance through four weeks of the 1999 season has increased by almost 3,000 fans per game compared to this time last year – a season in which an all-time paid-attendance record was set.

Through Week 4 of 1999, games have averaged 66,390 tickets sold. That is 2,849 more per game than the average through four weeks of last season (63,541). The total tickets sold through Week 4 this season was 3,850,591, an increase of 292,279 over the total of 3,558,312 after four weeks of 1998.

If the current pace is maintained, the NFL would top the all-time paid attendance record for a season of 64,020 per game that was set last year.
