HIGH-SCORING/LATE-DECIDING KICKOFF WEEKEND
The 15 games of Kickoff ’99 Weekend (September 12-13) averaged the most points for an
opening weekend – 47.3 per game – since 1968 (49.6), which was the highest
average for a Kickoff Weekend ever.
Four Sunday games (Arizona-Philadelphia, Cincinnati-Tennessee, Green Bay-Oakland, and New England-NY Jets) were won in the last 15 seconds of regulation – the first time in history that four games were won in that time on one day.
