11 NFL CLUBS OPEN TRAINING CAMPS THIS WEEK

Eleven NFL clubs open their 1999 training camps this week, beginning with the new Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, July 21.

The Browns are followed by the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers on Thursday, July 22; Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders on Friday, July 23; and Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins on Sunday, July 25.

FAMILIAR SURROUNDINGS

This summer, the Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans will conduct their training camps at new sites.

But many teams are returning to familiar college towns to begin the ritual of preparing for the season. The NFL training-camp longevity king? The Green Bay Packers will return this July 25 for their 41st consecutive summer at St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin.
