COMING IN WEEK 6! PASSING & RUSHING MILESTONES
- When Miami visits the New England Patriots on Sunday, Dolphins quarterback DAN MARINO
needs seven passing yards to become the first player in NFL history to throw for
60,000. Marino is the NFLs all-time passing leader with 59,993 yards.
- Indianapolis quarterback PEYTON MANNING has passed for 4,924 yards in his first
20 career games. With 76 yards when the Colts visit the New York Jets on Sunday, Manning
will become the quarterback in club history to reach 5,000 passing yards the fastest. Pro
Football Hall of Famer JOHNNY UNITAS, who holds the club record, reached 5,000
yards in his 27th game.
- Dallas Cowboys running back EMMITT SMITH, who leads the NFC in rushing with 409
yards, has 12,975 for his career and needs 25 on Monday night against the New York Giants
to become only the fourth player all-time with 13,000. After 13,000 yards, Smiths
next milestone will be to pass 1999 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee ERIC DICKERSON
(13,259) for third place all time.
- St. Louis Rams quarterback KURT WARNER has thrown 14 touchdown passes in four
games this season. With three more TD passes against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend,
Warner would post the best start of any quarterback in his teams first five games of
a season since 1970. BRETT FAVRE threw 16 touchdown passes in the first five games
of the 1996 season.
