CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES ARE CHAMPIONS IN THE RATINGS
The AFC Championship Game between the New York Jets and defending Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos earned a 27.3 overnight rating and a 47 share. The game also garnered high ratings in the New York and Denver areas.
In Denver, the game earned a 54.5 overnight rating and an 81 share, meaning that four out of every five homes in Denver that were watching television were watching the Broncos victory.
In New York, the game earned a 30.1 rating and a 52 share, meaning more than 50 percent of the New York metro-area viewers who were watching TV were tuned into the AFC Championship Game, which the Broncos won 23-10.
The NFC Championship Game between the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings earned an overnight rating of 26.1 with a 52 share. Both markets of the competing teams received very strong local ratings. Atlanta garnered a 50.6 rating and a 74 share while Minneapolis earned a 47.7 rating and 81 share.
