WOODY JOHNSON, BILL PARCELLS MEET, DISCUSSIONS WILL CONTINUE

Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets, and Bill Parcells, the director of football operations, had a lengthy meeting on Wednesday to discuss a variety of subjects with the basic intention of viewing what is in the long-term interests of the New York Jets. These discussions not only involved the coaching vacancy, but the overall structure of the program operations for the future.

They were not able within the time allowed to complete the conversations to the fullest. Therefore, there will be further discussions as the week goes on.

A search for a new head coach will not commence at this time. They will continue to explore all possibilities before deciding the direction the franchise will take.

We do not anticipate any further announcements for the remainder of the week. We anticipate something definitive by the middle of next week when the direction the organization will take will be outlined.
