JETS, PATRIOTS REACH AGREEMENT                                FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ON COMPENSATION FOR BELICHICK                                January 28, 2000

The New York Jets and New England Patriots announced they have reached an agreement on the compensation for the rights for the Patriots to negotiate with Bill Belichick. Jets director of football operations Bill Parcells and New England owner Robert Kraft worked out the terms of the agreement.

The Jets will receive New England’s No. 1 draft choice, the 16th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, and in 2001 the Jets will receive New England’s No. 4 and No. 7 choices. In exchange, the Jets will give the Patriots New York’s No. 5 in the 2001 draft and New York’s No. 7 in 2002.
