2000 OPPONENTS DETERMINED

The opponents for all regular-season NFL games in 2000 have been determined and a complete list of each team’s matchups was issued today by the NFL.

The official schedule, with playing dates and times, will be announced in the spring.

The 2000 regular season will begin with NFL Kickoff 2000 Weekend on September 3-4, and conclude on December 25.

Wild Card Playoff Weekend will be Saturday and Sunday, December 30-31; Divisional Playoff games on the weekend of January 6-7; and the AFC and NFC Championship Games on Sunday, January 14.

Super Bowl XXXV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida will be played on Sunday, January 28.

The annual AFC-NFC Pro Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii is set for Sunday, February 4.

The annual preseason Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio will be played on Monday night, July 31 between the New England Patriots (AFC) and San Francisco 49ers (NFC).

In 2000, each team will play eight home-and-home games with the other teams in its division, except for

teams in the six-team AFC Central, which will each have 10 divisional games.

Each team in all divisions except the AFC Central will play four non-division conference opponents. Teams that finished first and second in the AFC Central in 1999 will play two non-division conference opponents, and teams that finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth will each play three non-division opponents.

Each team in all divisions except the AFC Central will play four games against teams of a division of the other conference. Teams that finished first and second in the AFC Central in 1999 will play four games against teams of a division in the other conference, and teams that finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth will play three games against teams of a division of the other conference.

Interconference games next season will match the AFC East against the NFC Central, the AFC Central against the NFC East, and the AFC West against the NFC West.
