NEW YORK, N.Y. December 18, 2000 – The NFL, CBS Sports and MTV: Music Television announced today that two of music’s biggest artists, Aerosmith and *NSYNC, will perform during the E*TRADEÒ Super Bowl XXXV Halftime Show. The halftime music extravaganza will bring together vital rock legends Aerosmith with pop sensations *NSYNC, who will share the same stage for the first time ever. Super Bowl XXXV will be held on January 28, 2001 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The NFL selected MTV: Music Television to produce the E*TRADEÒ halftime show. CBS and MTV are both owned by Viacom Inc.

The Super Bowl, the NFL's championship game, is annually the nation's highest-rated TV program and the most-watched single-day sporting event. It will air on CBS and is expected to attract an estimated 130 million viewers in the United States and at least 750 million viewers worldwide.

Known as America's premier rock 'n roll band, Aerosmith is a unique force in today’s music. Band members Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer have sold over 100 million albums around the world and earned an array of accolades including Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards. In 1998, the band's smash single "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" became the group's first-ever #1 Billboard pop hit and landed Aerosmith an Academy Award nomination. Aerosmith will release their new studio album on Columbia in the spring of 2001.

In less than three years, *NSYNC, which includes Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake, has gained global stardom. "No Strings Attached," the band’s sophomore album, broke records by selling 2.4 million copies in its first week. *NSYNC’s self-titled 1998 album sold over ten million copies and yielded four number one singles. In addition, *NSYNC garnered "Viewer’s Choice," "Best Pop Video" and "Best Choreography," awards at the recent 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

The E*TRADEÒ Super Bowl XXXV halftime show will be executive produced by Dave Sirulnick and Salli Frattini. Alex Coletti and Patrick Byrnes will be producing for MTV; Dennis Despie will produce for Select Productions and Beth McCarthy-Miller will serve as director.
