BEARS ALUMNI ARE SUPREME

Although it may not be the equivalent of kicking a game-winning field goal, former Chicago Bears kicker BOB THOMAS had reason to rejoice this week as he was elected to the Illinois State Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Thomas becomes the second former Bear to sit on a state’s highest court.

Former Bears defensive end ALAN PAGE is already a justice for the Minnesota State Supreme Court.

Thomas played for the Bears from 1975-84 and is the team’s third all-time leading scorer with 629 points.

After 12 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, Page lined up for the Bears from 1978-81. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988.

Both men are graduates of Notre Dame.

In other NFL election news, Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver STEVE LARGENT (R-Okla.), who played for the Seattle Seahawks from 1976-89, was re-elected for his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
