BENGALS ANNOUNCE COACHING MOVES
Bengals head coach Dick LeBeau today announced the following moves regarding his 2001 coaching staff:
*Mark Duffner has been promoted to the role of defensive coordinator. Duffner has been Bengals linebackers coach since 1997, overseeing the development of the defenses most productive area. LeBeau, who began the 2000 season as assistant head coach/defensive coordinator, had retained the coordinators duties since being promoted to head coach following the Sept. 25 resignation of head coach Bruce Coslet.
*Ken Anderson, Bengals offensive coordinator since Oct. 21, 1996, will return next season as quarterbacks coach. The Bengals have begun the process of arranging interviews for candidates to become the new offensive coordinator.
*The remaining nine assistant coaches will return in 2001 with their position designations unchanged. They are Paul Alexander (offensive line), Jim Anderson (running backs), Louie Cioffi (defensive staff assistant), Ray Horton (defensive backs), Tim Krumrie (defensive line), Steve Mooshagian (wide receivers), Al Roberts (special teams), Frank Verducci (tight ends) and Kim Wood (strength and conditioning).
*The Bengals plan to hire a new linebackers coach to fill Duffners former role, and may make other moves to expand the staff.
