REDSKINS NEW KICKER MURRAY
BECOMES SIXTH-OLDEST NFLer EVER

When 44-year old kicker EDDIE MURRAY suits up next Monday night (11/20) for the Washington Redskins against the St. Louis Rams, he will become the sixth-oldest player to appear in an NFL game.

Murray, signed by the Redskins on Thursday, was born on August 29, 1956.

He will become the oldest player to appear in an NFL game since 44-year-old quarterback STEVE DE BERG played for the Atlanta Falcons in 1998.

There are four other 40-year-olds playing in the NFL in 2000 – Kansas City Chiefs quarterback WARREN MOON (43), Minnesota Vikings kicker GARY ANDERSON (41), Atlanta Falcons kicker MORTEN ANDERSEN (40) and Washington Redskins cornerback DARRELL GREEN (40).

This will be Murray's 19th NFL season. A seventh-round draft pick by Detroit in 1980, he spent his first 12 years with the Lions. He has since played for Kansas City, Tampa Bay, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington, Minnesota and Dallas again.

Murray's 1,563 points rank third among active players behind Gary Anderson (2,019) and Morten Andersen (1,904). His career total is seventh all-time.
