For the third week in a row, members of the New York Jets are the winners of the DirecTV NFL Play of the Week Award, the NFL announced today.

For the fourth week of the 2000 season, the winners are Jets running back CURTIS MARTIN and wide receiver WAYNE CHREBET.

In a showdown between two undefeated 3-0 teams Sunday, the Jets trailed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-14 with less than a minute to play. On second-and-four from the Buccaneers’ 18-yard line, Martin took a pitch and ran right. With Buccaneers linebacker DERRICK BROOKS bearing down on him, Martin floated a pass to the back of the end zone where Chrebet made a spectacular, leaping catch for the game-winning touchdown. The daring play-call and perfect execution of it gave the Jets the 21-17 victory.

"Curtis isn't the best passer in the world," said Chrebet. "The first time we ran it in practice it was pretty ugly. I was standing there waiting for it. It was like a duck. (This time) I said, ‘Please, just give him enough time to get the ball off,’ and he hit me."

This marks the second DirecTV NFL Play of the Week Award this season for Chrebet, who also won the award in Week 2 with his game-winning catch against the New England Patriots.

Jets safety MARCUS Coleman won the award in Week 3 for his 45-yard "Hail Mary" scoring catch on the final play of the first half of the New York-Buffalo game, breaking a 14-14 tie and helping lift the Jets to a 27-14 win.

In honor of their achievement, DirecTV will make a contribution in the names of Martin and Chrebet to the United Way.
