MISSOURI LEGISLATURE, GOVERNOR HONOR SUPER BOWL RAMS

The Super Bowl XXXIV champion St. Louis Rams were honored on Wednesday (4/19) by the Missouri General Assembly as two Missouri natives from the Rams paid a visit to the Capitol.

Rams linebacker MIKE JONES and defensive end GRANT WISTROM accepted resolutions honoring the team from both chambers.

The House gave the loudest cheers to Jones, who made the Super Bowl-saving tackle against the Tennessee Titans.

The House resolution read out loud to the chamber called Jones, "the pride of the University of Missouri," where he played and studied until 1991.

"The state of Missouri and the city of St. Louis supporters saw us through all the way to the end," said Jones.

Rep. T. MARK ELLIOT, R-Webb City, recognized Wistrom, whose parents live in Elliot’s district.

At a rally for the team in the Capitol rotunda, Gov. MEL CARNAHAN proclaimed April 19 "St. Louis Rams Day" in Missouri.

"All Missourians are proud of the amazing football team we witnessed last year," Carnahan said.
