RECORD-NUMBER OF FAN ALL-STAR VOTES
FOR 2001 PRO BOWL HAVE VIKINGS STARS ON TOP

One Week Remaining for Fan Voting on NFL.com

With one week remaining for 2001 NFL Pro Bowl fan balloting, wide receiver RANDY MOSS (176,886 votes) and quarterback DAUNTE CULPEPPER (172,475 votes) of the Minnesota Vikings are the top vote-getters among all NFL players.

Quarterback PEYTON MANNING of the Indianapolis Colts stands atop the AFC with the third-most number of votes (162,599). The previous all-time high fan-vote total belonged to Manning, who received 124,346 votes last season.

Fans may vote online at NFL.com, the league’s official website through Friday, December 8.

Nineteen position categories are voted upon by fans. The defending AFC Champion Tennessee Titans top all AFC teams with five players leading their position category. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers stand atop NFC fan balloting with six position leaders.

AFC and NFC All-Stars are selected by fans, players and coaches. Each group’s collective vote counts one-third towards determining the 43-man rosters. NFL players and coaches will cast their ballots on December 11-12. The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, players and coaches to determine its all-star teams. It was the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995.

The fans’ portion of the voting will be used to break ties in case of deadlocks.

Pro Bowl rosters will be revealed on NFL.com on Thursday, December 14, followed by the annual ESPN Pro Bowl Selection Show at 8:00 PM ET. The Pro Bowl takes place on Sunday, February 4 at 5:30 PM ET. It will be the 22nd consecutive NFL All-Star game played at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu and will be broadcast live on ABC-TV.

Listed below are current vote leaders with one week of Pro Bowl balloting remaining.
