WARNER AND MANNING TOP PRO BOWL ALL-STAR BALLOTS
AFTER FIRST WEEK OF VOTING

St. Louis Rams quarterback KURT WARNER (33,935) leads all NFC All-Stars, and Indianapolis Colts quarterback PEYTON MANNING (31,959) tops all AFC All-Stars in online balloting after the first week of fan voting for the 2001 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced today.

The Minnesota Vikings’ duo of wide receiver RANDY MOSS (33,820) and quarterback DAUNTE CULPEPPER (33,342) rank second and third overall. Manning is fourth, and Rams running back MARSHALL FAULK (31,126) rounds out the top five.

Fan voting, which counts one-third towards choosing the squads for the NFL’s annual all-star game, began October 15 on nfl.com and runs through December 8. Fans can also vote at NFL stadiums, and in Grainger’s retail stores nationwide.

The consensus ballots of NFL fans, players and coaches each count one-third towards determining the 43-man rosters that will represent the American and National conferences in the annual all-star game at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. Players and coaches will vote December 11-12. The Pro Bowl teams will be announced on the annual ESPN Pro Bowl Selection Show on December 14, at 8:00 PM. The show will feature interviews with chosen players.

The NFL is the only professional sports league that combines voting by fans, players and coaches in determining its all-star teams. Fan voting will be used to break any tie. The NFL became the first to offer online voting in 1995.

This year’s game will be televised live on ABC-TV on February 6 at 5:30 PM ET (12:30 PM HT). Listed below are the players with the most votes at each position through the first week of balloting:
