PRIME-TIME GAMES PROVIDE EXCITEMENT
There have been four prime-time games played in the NFL this season and all four have been decided in the final three minutes of play. All four final scores have been decided by seven points or less, with three games being decided by three points or less, and two by one point.
JETS 20, PATRIOTS 19: The most recent nail-biter was last nights Jets-Patriots contest at Giants Stadium in which New Yorks WAYNE CHREBET made a spectacular touchdown catch with 1:55 remaining. The Patriots attempted to recapture the lead but were thwarted by the Jets defense. The Jets were victorious, 20-19.
CARDINALS 32, COWBOYS 31: Week 2s Sunday-night contest was just as exciting as the Monday-nighter with JAKE "THE SNAKE" PLUMMER leading the home-town Cardinals to the game-winning touchdown over the Cowboys with 1:54 left in the game. Once again, the visitors made an attempt to recapture the lead but were denied. The Cardinals won 32-31.
RAMS 41, BRONCOS 36 (9/4): Kickoff Weekends Monday-night game featured the previous two Super Bowl champions when the Rams hosted the Broncos, and a shootout ensued. St. Louis running back ROBERT HOLCOMBE capped the scoring with a one-yard run with 2:58 remaining to give the defending Super Bowl champion Rams a 41-36 victory.
BILLS 16, TITANS 13 (9/3): On Kickoff Sunday night, the rematch of the Music City Miracle-Wild Card game between the Bills and Titans proved sweet revenge for the home-town Bills as STEVE CHRISTIE kicked the game-winner (33 yards) with 31 seconds remaining. True to form, the Titans returned the ensuing kickoff to midfield but were stopped short of a second miracle. Buffalo won 16-13.
