NFL SETS ATTENDANCE RECORD
For the first time in its 80-year history, the NFL has surpassed the one million paid
attendance mark on three weekends in a season, the league announced today.
Fifteen NFL games last week (December 10-11) totaled 1,009,732 in paid attendance. That followed a total of 1,013,519 in attendance for the week of November 12-13, and 1,011,224 for November 19-20.
In 1999, the NFL had two weekends that totaled one million each in paid attendance, the first time in its history that the league reached that one million figure on any weekend.
Overall NFL paid attendance is on a record-setting pace again this year. Games are averaging 66,302 fans through 15 weeks. The all-time record was set last year when games averaged 65,349 in paid attendance.
