JEFF
FISHER NAMED CO-CHAIRMAN OF COMPETITION COMMITTEE;
MIKE HOLMGREN RETURNS AS MEMBER OF COMMITTEE
Tennessee Titans Head Coach Jeff
Fisher has been named co-chairman of the NFL Competition Committee and
Seattle Seahawks Executive Vice President, General Manager and Head Coach
Mike Holmgren will return to the committee, the NFL announced today.
Commissioner Paul Tagliabue
appointed Fisher to replace former Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Dennis
Green as co-chairman with Tampa Bay Buccaneers General Manager Rich McKay.
Fisher has been a member of the committee since 2000.
Holmgren served on the
Competition Committee from 1994-98. He was chairman of the Coaches
Subcommittee from 1994-96 before succeeding Don Shula as co-chairman of
the full committee from 1996-98.
"Jeff Fisher has been an
outstanding member of the committee," Commissioner Tagliabue said. "His
analytical skills are complemented by his ability to communicate
effectively. He will be an excellent co-chair with Rich McKay. Mike
Holmgren already has extensive experience on the committee, and, in
addition, he adds an offensive perspective to the current group."
Other members of the committee are
Arizona Cardinals General Manager Bob Ferguson, New York Giants Executive
Vice President John Mara, Baltimore Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome,
Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian, and Carolina Panthers President
Mark Richardson.
Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Tony
Dungy will continue to serve as chairman of the Coaches Subcommittee along
with Dick LeBeau of the Cincinnati Bengals and Andy Reid of the
Philadelphia Eagles.
