Aspiring journalists
WILBERT PARKER,
16, and
JAIRUS AUGUSTUS,
17, both high school football players from New Orleans, have the
opportunity of a lifetime in covering Super Bowl events for
NFLHS.com
and
SUPERBOWL.com
during Super Bowl Week in their hometown.
Parker, a junior attending George Washington
Carver High School in New Orleans, is assigned to give a report from
Super Bowl XXXVI Media Day, Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Louisiana Superdome.
Media Day, a highly anticipated Super Bowl player availability session,
will be attended by approximately 3,000 journalists. Parker plays
linebacker for Carver High School, which is St. Louis Rams running back
MARSHALL FAULK’salma mater. Parker’s story may be read on NFLHS.com
and SUPERBOWL.com on Tuesday evening.
Augustus, a senior
at O’Perry Walker High School in New Orleans, plays offensive

Coca-Cola and America
Online present the NFL Experience will be held at
the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and is
the most exciting continuous event surrounding Super Bowl XXXVI -- an
interactive football theme park offering games, displays and entertainment
attractions.
Parker and Augustus are no strangers as their
respective high schools met on the gridiron during Louisiana’s Class 4A
State Regional playoff round this past season. Augustus and his O’Perry
Walker classmates edged Carver, 12-7.
NFLHS.com is the league’s
official high school football web site and SUPERBOWL.com is the NFL’s
official Super Bowl web site. Both sites are part of the NFL Internet
Network and combined will
draw more than two million unique users during the week of
Super Bowl XXXVI.
In its third year,
NFLHS.com reports stories on NFL players and coaches related to high
school football with more than 1,100
high school football articles and columns annually. An all-time
high 1,035,941 boys played high school football in the 2000-2001 school
year according to the National Federation of State High School
Associations, nearly doubling the next-most played sport.
