GEORGE W. BUSH TO HELP KICK OFF NFL REGULAR SEASON
President GEORGE W. BUSH will participate via satellite in the coin toss
ceremony for the 10 regular-season games that start at 1:00 PM ET this Sunday as
the NFL kicks off its 2001 season, the league announced today.
It marks the first time that a
United States President has been involved in a pregame coin toss ceremony for
NFL regular-season games in the 82-year history of the league.
The coin toss is scheduled to
occur in the White House Rose Garden. With
the President for the ceremony will be 15 young football players in full uniform
from the Washington, DC Pop Warner League of the Metropolitan Police Boys and
Girls Club.
The coin toss will be seen by
fans on in-stadium video screens at the 10 game sites.
It
will also be televised nationally by CBS and FOX.
