VIKINGS’ CHAMBERLAIN ADDED TO 2002 NFC PRO BOWL ROSTER

Minnesota Vikings tight end BYRON CHAMBERLAIN was added to the NFC roster today for the 2002 Pro Bowl.
The Pro Bowl, featuring NFL All-Stars from the AFC and NFC, will be played on Saturday, February 9 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.  ABC-TV will have live coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. (ET).

Chamberlain will make his first appearance in the NFL’s annual All-Star game.  He finished the 2001 season with 57 receptions, 666 receiving yards and three touchdowns – all career highs.

Chamberlain is the fourth NFL Europe League veteran – joining St. Louis’ KURT WARNER, New Orleans’ LA’ROI GLOVER and Philadelphia’s DAVID AKERS – to earn All-Star status this season.  In 1996, he led the Rhein Fire in receptions before earning a roster spot with the Denver Broncos.

Chamberlain, a six-year pro, heads to Hawaii in place of Carolina Panthers tight end WESLEY WALLS who will miss the game with a knee injury.
