BRONCOS’ PAT BOWLEN TO TESTIFY MONDAY IN RAIDERS TRIAL

Court was not in session Friday and the jury was given a three-day weekend in the Raiders vs. NFL trial in State Superior Court in Los Angeles.

Counsel for the Raiders on Thursday afternoon read deposition testimony from Michael McCaskey and former Seattle Seahawks president David Behring. Both served on the NFL Finance Committee in 1995 when the Raiders decided to desert Los Angeles and take what they considered a more attractive offer to return to Oakland.

Pat Bowlen is expected to be called by the Raiders as a "hostile" witness when the trial resumes on Monday. Mr. Bowlen was a member of the four-person committee appointed by Commissioner Tagliabue in May, 1995 to negotiate a second-team option with the Raiders and Hollywood Park. The other three committee members -- Jerry Richardson, Carmen Policy and Neil Austrian -- already have testified as "hostile" witnesses for the Raiders in this trial.
