Eagles Release Mamula; Sign 16 Rookie Free Agents
The Philadelphia Eagles today announced that they have released veteran defensive end Mike Mamula.
"We really appreciate all of the time and effort Mike has given to this organization," said Andy Reid. "He helped get this program going again during my time here. But with the few new additions during the offseason, we decided to go in a different direction as far as Mike is concerned. We wish he and his family all the best."
Mamula joined the Eagles as a first round draft choice in 1995 and played in 77 games over six seasons (he missed the entire 1998 campaign due to a knee injury). Overall, he made 288 tackles, including 31.5 sacks, and forced eight fumbles while recovering six.
