PRO BOWL LOGO RELEASED;
HIGHLIGHTS NFL-HAWAII PARTNERSHIP
When
the NFL returns to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Pro Bowl next February, it
will mark the latest chapter in its unique relationship with the Aloha
State.
The 2003 NFL
All-Star game will be the 24th consecutive contest played in Hawaii,
pairing the greatest stars of America’s favorite sport with one of the
premier vacation destinations in the world – and a football hotbed.
The 2003 Pro Bowl
logo captures the link between NFL greatness in the form of the sport’s
best players, and the site that has become synonymous with them.
“The NFL’s best are
a constant presence at the Pro Bowl and Hawaii is ingrained in their
All-Star experience,” said JIM STEEG, NFL senior vice president of
special events. “This logo reflects the great relationship between the
NFL and Hawaii, as well as cultural aspects that immediately identify
Hawaii: the surfboard and the palm tree.”
The Pro Bowl has
featured sellout crowds for the past 23 years. Last February, 50,301 fans
were in attendance at Aloha Stadium for the AFC’s exciting 38-30 win over
the NFC. Oakland Raiders quarterback RICH GANNON earned Player of
the Game honors, completing 8 of 10 passes for 137 yards and two
touchdowns.
“It is an honor to
compete at the Pro Bowl with the game’s greatest players,” Gannon said.
“The experience of being in Hawaii as one of the best in your profession
is something I will always remember.”
