U.S. MILITARY BASES IN GERMANY ON USO/NFL TOUR

 

NFL To Support “Armed Forces Weekend” In Germany at NFL Europe Game in Frankfurt

 

NFL Commissioner PAUL TAGLIABUE, NFL 2001 Man of the Year, JEROME BETTIS of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pro Bowl veteran EDDIE GEORGE of the Tennessee Titans will be in Germany this week (April 25-28) to visit United States military men and women on behalf of the USO and the NFL. 

“I am pleased that Jerome and Eddie, two of our finest players, can make this special overseas trip with me to visit with our troops,” said Commissioner Tagliabue.   “This is a tremendous opportunity to meet and tell our military--face-to-face--how appreciative and proud we are of them.”

Commissioner Tagliabue, Bettis and George have a full itinerary, including:

  • A visit to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center where many U.S. soldiers injured in Afghanistan are recuperating.
  • Visits with troops at Baumholder Military Base, Ramstein Air Force Base and the Hanau Military Community. 
  • A presentation of flag football equipment to U.S. military personnel at Weisbaden Army Air Field.  The presentation fulfills a promise Tagliabue made on his most recent visit to Weisbaden last month when he promised the NFL would donate football equipment to all teams associated with the U.S. military in Germany – at the military unit level, youth level and high school level.
  • Commissioner Tagliabue will be the keynote speaker at the Annual German- American Chamber of Commerce Dinner on Thursday night, April 25.
  • Bettis and George will participate in “Armed Forces Weekend” pregame ceremonies at the Frankfurt Galaxy-Scottish Claymores game in Frankfurt’s Waldstadion on Saturday, April 27.
