Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety John Lynch and his wife Linda will recognize the Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship recipients and announce the Star of the Year winners at the second annual "Salute the Stars" Luncheon next Thursday (May 18) in Tampa. The event is sponsored by the Lynch family and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and held in conjunction with the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce and its Sports Council.

Through the Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship, the Lynch family and the TBSC provide financial assistance for Hillsborough County high school students to use at the college of their choice. Students nominated for the Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship must adhere to certain criteria, including achieving a minimum GPA and participating in interscholastic and community service activities.

The John Lynch Star of the Month program rewards Hillsborough and Pinellas County high school and middle school student athletes for their athletic and academic achievements, outstanding sportsmanship and community involvement. Lynch and the TBSC select Star of the Year winners from the monthly winners.
