Warrick Signing Another Step In Rebuilding Bengals

CINCINNATI (AP) Peter Warrick set pass-catching records for Florida State and the Atlantic Coast Conference. The flashy wide receiver also showed speed with the Cincinnati Bengals, becoming one of their earliest first-round draft pick signings in years.

Warrick and team officials beamed Monday as they discussed his Sunday night signing.

"I didn't want to hold out," Warrick told reporters. "I just wanted to play football."

"Everybody knows what he can do," Bengals coach Bruce Coslet said. "It's our job to get him the ball."

Warrick set a Florida State record with 32 touchdown catches. He holds the ACC record for receiving yards with 3,517. He also will return punts for the Bengals.

"We know he has talent," Coslet said. "But until he gets incorporated into what we're doing here football-wise, it's not fair to evaluate him."
