ARIZONA: Traded second overall pick in draft to San Diego for Chargers first-round choice (third overall), second-round selection, first-round choice in 99, wide receiver-kick returner ERIC METCALF and linebacker PATRICK SAPP Cardinals resigned defensive tackle ERIC SWANN. "I'm a Cardinal for the rest of my life," said Swann. "I want to be around here when we make the playoffs and win the Super Bowl."
ATLANTA: Signed safety EUGENE ROBINSON from two-time defending NFC Champion Green Bay Packers. Robinson is leagues active interception leader and needs one for 50 in career Also resigned seven-time Pro Bowl kicker MORTEN ANDERSEN.
CAROLINA: Three former Panthers rejoin club. Linebacker KEVIN GREENE (UFA, S.F.) returns to Carolina after one year with 49ers. Greene led NFL with 14.5 sacks in 96 and helped Panthers reach NFC title game. SAM MILLS and BRETT MAXIE, who both retired after last season, rejoined club as pro scout and defensive assistant, respectively.
CHICAGO: First-ever Chicago Bears Fan Convention was held March 13-15. Convention featured exhibit halls and seminars with many current and former Bears players, including CURTIS CONWAY, JIM FLANIGAN, DICK BUTKUS and GALE SAYERS Bears have fifth overall choice in draft.

DETROIT: JIM ZORN, second-leading passer in Seattle Seahawks history and fourth-leading left-handed passer in NFL history, was named Lions quarterbacks coach and will tutor Detroit southpaw SCOTT MITCHELL. Zorn likes Mitchells talent but says he wants him to play with more "attitude." "The offensive linemen, the defensive linemen and players who hit on every play have this fierce, competitive attitude," says Zorn. "The quarterback has to have a little bit of that himself to compete fiercely and intensely." Zorn was an offensive assistant with the Seahawks last year.
GREEN BAY: Packers head coach MIKE HOLMGREN will work closely with new special teams coach JOHNNY HOLLAND. "I'm going to take a more active role in it (special teams)," Holmgren said, although he does not lack confidence in his new coach. "I like everything about Johnny," said Holmgren. "What he will have to learn, just as any former player who comes into the league has to learn, is to develop a teaching atmosphere in the classroom."
MINNESOTA: Vikings resigned three key members of their 97 divisional playoff team defensive tackle JOHN RANDLE, who led league with 15.5 sacks and was named to fifth straight Pro Bowl; running back ROBERT SMITH, who set club rushing record last season with 1,266 yards; and tackle TODD STEUSSIE, who was named to his first Pro Bowl Lead NFL with eight players allocated to NFL Europe League.

NEW YORK GIANTS: By resigning safety TITO WOOTEN, Giants return all defensive starters for 98. SAN FRANCISCO: Embarked on youth movement by signing four free-agent starters who average 26 years of age: cornerback ANTONIO LANGHAM (UFA, Baltimore age 25), linebacker WINFRED TUBBS (UFA, New Orleans 27), tight end IRV SMITH (UFA, New Orleans 26) and defensive end GABE WILKINS (UFA, Green Bay -- 26). The four players they replace averaged 34.8 years of age last season.
